This month’s free practice is a Loving Kindness (Metta) Meditation—a gentle invitation to show yourself loving care.
Hi there,
Welcome to the first of my monthly blogs—an open space where I’ll be sharing a free practice, reflection, or something I feel might be meaningful to you. I’ll be taking over these blogs from now on, because I was looking forward to sharing some thoughts with you along with a free practice.
First, a big thank you to Katie for creating such beautiful themed playlists. I know many of you have enjoyed them, and I’m so grateful for the care she put into them. You can continue to find them here.
This month, I want to offer you a Loving Kindness Meditation, also known as Metta.
Why this practice you may ask?
Many of us are good at being kind to others. We offer support, we listen, we care. But turning that same kindness inward? That can feel a lot harder. Maybe it feels selfish. Maybe it brings up resistance. I know I’ve felt that too.
This meditation gently invites you to include yourself in your circle of care—not as an afterthought, but as a starting point. Because the more we learn to treat ourselves with loving kindness, the more we can offer it to others from a grounded, honest place.
You can practice this meditation however you like. You can sit, lie down, move gently, even walk. You can repeat the phrases in your mind, whisper them, or say them out loud. There’s no one “right” way. The most important thing is that it feels okay for you.
I hope this brings you a sense of warmth, and maybe even a little ease.
If you give it a try, I’d love to hear how it felt. Feel free to share your experience by sending a message / tagging me on Instagram: @yogawithbiddy
Wishing you a beautiful day,
Biddy
